NRM youth chairman imprisoned in Kabale

Brian Twasiima, the Bubare Sub county NRM youth chairperson is languishing in Kabale prison for collecting signatures on behalf of Amama Mbabazi.

Twasiima also serves as the chairperson of Kigezi Youth Allied Development Association.

We are told Twasiima was arrested yesterday on orders of the Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Darius Nandinda.

Those who know the youth claim he actually supports President Yoweri Museveni.

“I know Twasiima. He has been working for government. He is not even our colleague,” a member of Mbabazi’s Umoja group told us.

Turning to the RDC, the Umoja youth said all that “Nandida does is fight Mbabazi. He thinks life is about fighting Mbabazi.”

Twasiima is accused of collecting signatures together with a one Habbib Semugembe in Kabale and Kisoro districts, which the RDC says is illegal.

He is currently held at Kabale Police station.

He told the police that the signatures were being collected on behalf of State House and the NRM Party Chairperson.

He says RDC Nandida too is aware of this.

Twasiima is one of the many youth who have been arrested and detained for possessing Mbabazi’s campaign materials across the country.
