The ruling party is back in its election winning spree, according to the Tuesday youth Member of Parliament polls.

NRM flag bearers in the Northern Youth MP race, Oscar Omony grabbed the seat after beating George Abdul.

Omony picked 533 votes ahead of Abdul’s 449 votes.

Joyce Wadri, the Northern Uganda Regional Election Returning Officer, declared Omony winner on Monday evening.

Omony, a son to Brigadier Charles Otema, replaces Youth minister, Evelyn Anite, who is the outgoing Northern Uganda Youth MP.

In Western Uganda Youth Member of Parliament seat race, NRM flag bearer also son to State Minister for agriculture Lt. Col. Bright Rwamirama, Mwine Mpaka, won the elections.

Mpaka polled 660 votes beating Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde’s son, Amanya Tumukunde who picked 463 votes.

In central Uganda, NRM flag bearer, Sarah Babirye Kityo, won the seat after bearing rivals.

Kityo picked 323 votes followed by independent candidate Arthur Katongole who got 298 votes and then Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Thomas Kayanja who got only 4 votes.

Unfortunately, the youth elections for eastern region were cancelled on the last minute.

Jotham Taremwa, the Electoral Commission spokesperson, says the elections were called off in Jinja after Issa Mafabi, one of the aspirants, secured a court order accusing the Commission of refusing to nominate him.

NRM in Busoga is represented by the Busia Youth Finance Secretary, Dorothy Okware, in the Eastern Youth MP race.
