The ruling NRM has called newly elected Members of Parliament to Kyankwanzi for a retreat.
“As the NRM MP’s elect prepare to take oath in May 2016, the party has organized a eight day residential retreat to orient and prepare them for the legislative journey and service to the party and country,” NRM Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba, told press in Kampala.
The retreat shall take place at the National Leadership Institute, (NALI) Kyankwanzi, from Saturday, March 12th to 20th, 2016.
The theme of the retreat is; consolidating the NRM Revolution: Effective Manifesto implementation for better service delivery.
The retreat will be attended by the newly elected NRM members of parliament who will form the 10th Parliament. (i.e. the re-elected members of the 9th and the new members)
“I wish to congratulate all Ugandans for having gone through general elections, and in a special way, thank you for voting for our (NRM) presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni with 60.62% and giving NRM parliamentary candidates a 70% so far.”
“We thank you for the victory in the local councils and municipal elections which we are compiling after today’s elections.”
According to Lumumba, the retreat, shall serve as a forum to orient and focus the MP-elect (leaders) of the NRM on the main Parliamentary tasks at hand.
“The specific objectives of the retreat will include: To appreciate the party ideology; To help build political and organizational unity amongst the members; To enable the new leaders appreciate their role in the socio-economic transformation of our country; To enable the NRM MPs elect to better appreciate the Party Manifesto and how to fulfil it through Parliament; To enable the newly elected members understand the A-Z of a multi-party parliament and the role of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus.”
The resource persons will include seasoned experts on issues of party ideology, economy and leadership, she said.
