President Yoweri Museveni has launched a nationwide registration of National Resistance Movement (NRM) party members ahead of 2016 elections.
Both Party Chairman and Head of State, Museveni became the first party member to be registered in the country-wide exercise launched today, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Kaunda ground in Gulu Municipality.
The move was announced by the NRM Secretary General, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, on Sunday.
After today’s launch, the Secretariat will camp in the northern region to conduct the zonal conferences starting Thursday 30th April 2015.
The exercise will also cover Karamoja region.
Also today, President Museveni officially opened the Gulu central market, which has 474 shops and 1040 stalls accommodating 4500 business people.
This will create direct employment to approximately 4600 people and create indirect employment to thousands more.
He also also commissioned the multibillion Gulu Secondary School.
The President is currently on a two day working tour to Gulu and Nwoya districts.
