National Resistance Movement (NRM) has set aside Sunday April 3, 2016 to officially celebrate the election victory of its party presidential candidate.
The party Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba has announced that their party will have its double victory celebrations at Kololo independence grounds.
This came after the Supreme Court dismissed Amama Mbabazi’s presidential election petition citing lack of evidence.
Lumumba who replaced Amama as the SG called upon him to join them and be part of nation building.
She was addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Kyadondo.
Speaking on the development, Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who also replaced Amama, said today’s victory in the Supreme Court confirms the overwhelming mandate Ugandans gave to Museveni and NRM for the next five years.
However, The Rt. Rev. Dr. D. Zac Niringiye is a theologian, pastor and Bible teacher, directed Rugunda’s attention to the “sadness” that was caused by the outcomes of the 2016 elections.
“What is overwhelming is the sadness with which the country received the announcement that Museveni had won,” Zac wrote in response to Rugunda’s tweet.
