FDC’s former Kyadondo East constituency MP Apollo Kantinti has summarised Kampala minister Beti Kamya is two words–a disgrace.
Kantinti was Tuesday appearing on NBS TV morning breeze programme alongside Kenneth Omona, the Deputy ruling party NRM Treasurer.
According to Kantinti, Kamya’s wish to campaign for President Yoweri Museveni in 2021 elections paints her as selfish.
“It’s selfish of her not to think about Uganda, its people and the future,” he pointed out, hastily adding, “Hon. Beti Kamya is a disgrace. She knows what is she doing is wrong.”
This comes days after Kamya promised to secure 80% victory for Museveni in 2021 elections amid a public outcry against legislators who are plotting to scrap the presidential age limit.
NRM to rule Uganda for many years
Omona, on the other hand, believes NRM is not an event but a journey that is not about to end.
“We are very conscious of our journey. Our ultimate goal is to transform the country.”
He added: “I think President Museveni ruling above 75 years is not an issue. The issue is keeping Uganda peaceful and developmental.”
Omona says NRM’s plan is to rule Uganda for ‘many many’ years, even after President Museveni is gone.
“Right now we don’t want to divert people from service delivery.”
According to government spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo, opposition can wait until 2056 to take power from the ruling party.
Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi too believes NRM will stay in power for more than 50 years from now.
