Opposition Chief Whip Hon. Semujju Nganda has described the ruling NRM Members of Parliament as nothing more than school children.
Nganda was on Wednesday commenting on the decision by legislators to pass a motion enlarging cabinet to 80 ministers.
“The bigger Cabinet was passed thanks to the huge forest of NRM MPs,” Nganda stated while appearing on NBS television.
He said NRM MPs are seeking to please President Yoweri Museveni.
“They are acting like school children, all wearing yellow ties and the like.”
He said Uganda is the first country to rely on ‘grand parents’ to move a country from poverty to prosperity.
He cited Gen Moses Ali, 77, saying although he can’t stand for 3 minutes, he still retained his position on cabinet as First Deputy Prime Minister.
“After 3 minutes, he [Ali] wants a chair. And he is minister!”
According to Nganda, the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga should have amended the motion and provide for 200 ministers because everyone wants to be a minister.
He said lack of space will be transferred to the Cabinet room like the case in Parliament.
“Everyone wants to be a minister.”
Speaking on the Gulu incident, Nganda said there are so many things the regime is going to stage-manage.
“They are no longer sure about the army, too. It is very likely for this regime to stage the kind of attack that we saw in Gulu. Investigations will reveal this.”
Democratic Party President Norbert Mao said UPDF 4th division soldiers were responsible for the attack but the army denied the accusation.
