Kitagwenda Member of Parliament, Nuru Byamukama, was seen leading Amama Mbabazi too grab Kamwenge votes from President Yoweri Museveni on Monday.
“This morning Hon Nuru Byamukama and I held Go Forward rally in Biguli, Kibale County, Kamwenge,” Mbabazi said in a tweet to confirm the MP’s support.
Nuru defected from the ruling party after the Uganda Communications Commission put his radio off air.
Byamukama is the owner of Endigyito Radio located in Mbarara town.
According to Bonny Malidadi, the station manager, the radio was off air for about two weeks.
It was put off air after hosting Mbabazi while campaigning in Mbarara district.
Towards the end of November last year, Byamukama was among 60 NRM losers who denounced President Museveni.
Nuru was later seen at Mbabazi’s rally in Ibanda flashing the Go Forward sign.
“I love Museveni but Amama Mbabazi will make NRM move forward,” Byamukama said at the rally.
On Monday, he led Mbabazi through Kamwenge soliciting all the votes Nuru had always rallied on behalf of Museveni.
Although his radio has been put back on air [afew days ago], Nuru continues to campaign for Mbabazi.
The radio was put back on air on Saturday.
UCC claims the radio had failed to comply with its broadcasting standards.
