Kween County MP Abdi Fadhil Kisos Chemaswet has defected from President Yoweri Museveni’s camp and joined former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi.
Hon. Chemaswet becomes first NRM legislator to openly join Go Forward with the former party secretary general.
A staunch NRM supporter, Chemaswet is expected to second Amama’s presidential nomination tomorrow, November 3, 2015.
The legislator says he believes “Amama is the visionary of this country”.
There have been mixed reactions as to who exactly supports Amama in the ruling party with many critics wondering the alleged supporters were silent.
At the Namboole delegates conference, many expected to see Amama’s alleged supporters inside the ruling party come out but to no avail.
Yet, we are aware that his mobilisers were at Namboole busy meeting delegates person per person.
Amama himself has been meeting district leaders across the country, though quietly.
While addressing the Central Executive Committee of the ruling party at State House Entebbe, President Yoweri Museveni, banned members from branding each other as pro-Amama or pro-Kizza Besigye.
He, however, promised that if there are any Amama infiltrators in the party, they would be found out and dealt with.
Now towards his nomination, Amama’s supporters have started coming out.
After nomination, Mbabazi will launch his presidential at Nakivubo stadium at the heart of the city.
His supporters have already started decorating the city with Amama presidential posters.
Last evening, the posters were seen in Wandegeya.
