Jinja High Court has nullified the election of NRM-leaning independent, Robert Ntende as the Member of Parliament for Bunya South County in Mayuge district.
Ntende was kicked out of the 10th Parliament after court ascertained voter bribery during the process that brought him to parliament.
The incumbent MP, Iddi Isabirye of NRM, rejected Robert Ntende’s victory and filed a petition at Iganga Magistrate’s Court for a recount, which was granted.
However, Ntende secured an interim court order at the Jinja-based High Court, stopping the magistrate from conducting the exercise.
The same court on Monday found out that Ntende had bribed voters hence kicking him out.
Ntende’s nullification raises the number of 10th Parliament MPs who have lost their seats to 18.
15 of those were NRM flag-bearers.
Also today, Jinja East MP Igeme Nabeta was thrown out of Parliament for vote rigging.
FDC’s Paul Mwiru petitioned court saying NRM’s Nabeta had rigged.
The judge has declared Mwiru as new Jinja East MP.
