Former FUFA Spokesperson and NRM Mobilizer, Rogers Mulindwa, has assaulted a radio journalist in his overzealousness and uncalled for fanaticism.
Eddie Bindhe, a journalist working with Uganda Radio Network, was attacked at Garden Courts where the NRM Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba, was meeting party leaders.
It all started when Bindhe arrived at Garden Courts in Masaka municipality and introduced himself as journalist who wanted to cover the meeting.
Mulindwa blocked Eddie at the entrance saying that they had allowed enough journalists and he should leave the venue.
Bindhe retreated to Garden Courts hotel lounge and resorted to do some work on his laptop as he waited for Lumumba to come out for an interview on issues concerning NRM Party in the region.
Mulindwa followed Eddie and ordered him to vacate Garden Courts which he refused saying he had no authority outside the hall hired by the party.
In the ensuing scuffle, Mulindwa attempted to strangle Bindhe and break his company Identity Card.
Bindhe survived with injuries and has since reported case of assault at Masaka Central Police station.
This is not the first time Mulindwa is misbehaving in party meetings.
“Last year at the sole candidate meeting convened at Bukenya foundation in Luweero, he threatened to kick out but I engaged him and he backed off,” narrates Brian Luwaga, another journalist working with URN.
“My friend and NRM Party Treasurer Namayanja Rose Nsereko should come out and guide Mulindwa on how to handle media.”
Luwaga condemned the attack on Eddie and Media fraternity.
