The National Resistance Movement (NRM) shall convene it’s National Conference (Delegates Conference) from October, 30-November 2, 2015 at Mandela National Stadium at Namboole near Kampala.
This is the first meeting of the Third National Conference of the NRM.
Richard Todwong, Deputy Secretary General NRM (MP), says the main purpose of the Conference is to elect new national office bearers, and also for the delegates to receive and elect the NRM presidential flag bearer for the 2016 presidential elections.
Accordingly, the National Chairperson has constituted the conference national organizing committee under the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Secretary General of NRM Justine Kasule Lumumba deputized by Hon. Richard Todwong.
There will be two sets of Conferences, the first one being that of special Organs, and National Leagues of the NRM which includes; NRM Historical Leaders League, NRM Elders’ Forum, NRM Women’s League, NRM Youth League, NRM League for Persons with Disabilities, NRM Works League, NRM Elders League, NRM Entrepreneurs League, NRA and UPDF Veterans League and NRM Institutions League.
The above Special Organs and Leagues, according to Todwong, shall report on October 28, and convene at Namboole on October, 29, 2015 at 9:00am to elect their respective leaders.
Altogether they number about 15,000 people.
The delegates from these leagues who are members of the main National Conference shall remain to participate in the event of October 30-November 2, 2015.
“Those who are not members of the National Conference will be discharged to return to their respective districts.”
He said all preparations including invitations and accreditations are already underway, and the Secretariat is in close touch with the delegates, and other invitees who include leaders of sister and brotherly political parties in the region, and those in IPOD(Inter-Party/Organization Dialogue), that is, parties with representation in parliament as special guests.
When the Conference ends on November 2, the NRM will on 3rd November, 2015 at 9.00am be presenting YK Museveni for nomination as its Flag Bearer for the 2016 elections to the independent Electoral Commission.
The same day at 2.00pm, NRM will hold a public rally at Kololo Independence Ceremonial Grounds to present Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the public.
On November, 5th, 2015 Candidate YK Museveni will then launch the NRM 2016-21 Election Manifesto.
