A section of the 289 National Resistance Movement (NRM) members who recently trained in a 60-days party ideology at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi have accused party leaders of embezzling money meant for their transport refund.
According some of the complainants, they were promised Shs5 million at the end of the course. However, they that upon completion, they were given Shs500, 000 contrary.
But the party leadership has refuted their claims describing them as false and misleading.
“First, they have deliberately maintained that they were paid 500,000/= as transport refund – instead of 5 million shillings. This is false and misleading.
The payment of 500, 000/= was publicly communicated to the group by the State House Comptroller. Unfortunately some of the group have acted in an erroneous manner – which must be immediately corrected. While we empathize with the trainees about the challenges at home, this should not lead them into distortions which border on the criminal. These gross distortions also tantamount to indiscipline – which a good cadre cannot be party to,” said David Mafabi, president Yoweri Museveni’s aide who coordinated the training.
According to him, genuine grievances on the part of cadres are not communicated to the leadership through “industrial action” of the kind that the leaders of the small group have been utlizing.
“There are more appropriate channels for communicating with the leadership. Again, the challenges at home – should not lead our cadres into making unfortunate mistakes. On our part, we shall not tire in our efforts to have internal corrective measures deployed to harmonize the young Comrades – we know good cadreship develops and is consolidated over time,” he added in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Apparwntly, the training is part of the efforts bh Museveni to deal with the major national bottleneck of ideological disorientation as a vital element in Kisanja Hakuna Mchezo.
