The chairman of the Police Suppliers Association has told UPF that his team will not deliver anymore food until the arrears are cleared up.
Suppliers to UPF numbering in hundreds are still waiting for payment for their produce since the 2011 elections.
Despite not being paid since 2011, many continued delivering grains and other produce to UPF while waiting for payment. Incidentally this long wait is what pushed the owing money to sh. 28 billion.
Given that a contingent of police have been deployed all around the country to monitor this month’s elections, it is worrisome that some may go without food unless UPF pays the owing money.
Polly Namaye has admitted that they do have debts and will pay. Unfortunately, they have not received the funds for this past quarter and they are paid quarterly.
