Burundi President, Pierre Nkurunziza, has also sent his condolences to Uganda for losing a son of the land, Gen Aronda Nyakairima.
Nkurunziza’s message was released by Burundi presidency on Twitter and Facebook minutes before Aronda’s body landed at Entebbe airport.
“Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza extends condolences to his Uganda counterpart Kaguta Museveni and the family of late Gen Aronda Nyakairima,” the message read.
Last week, Kenya president, Uhuru Kenyatta, paid a glowing tribute to fallen Ugandan soldier and former army commander.
Kenyatta said in a Twitter message that Kenya condoles the people of Uganda as they mourn the death of their Internal Affairs Minister.
“To my brother President Kaguta Museveni may God comfort you as Uganda mourns the death of Waziri General Aronda Nyakairima,” Kenyatta’s message read.
Earlier, the EAC Secretary General, Amb Richard Sezibera, also extended his condolences.
The body of the late has been received by UPDF Generals including; Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Katumba Wamala, Gen Elly Tumwine and Police chief, Gen Kale Kayihura.
Generals Koreta, Gutti, David Muhoozi, Mugisha delivered Gen. Aronda’s body from the plane to the waiting ambulance.
Also present were; Minister of Security, Mary Karoro Okurut, and prisons boss, Johnson Byabashaijja.
Flags at the parliament of Uganda have been lowered to half-mast in respect of the fallen Internal Affairs minister.
