Nkozi university student arrested over forgery

Police in Mpigi District has arrested a 28-year-old student of Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi main campus, over alleged forgery, impersonation and causing financial loss to the institution.

The suspect is a second year student in the Faculty of Agriculture.

According to Ben Igama, the officer in charge of Buwama Police Station, the suspect was arrested after students complained that he had issued them with fake bank slips and university identity cards after extorting   money from them under the  disguise of being an official from USAID, who helps students  access soft tuition loans.

Authorities say there are several cases of fraud reported by students amid numerous police warnings.
