NBS television journalist Remmy Bahati has been arrested outside FDC candidate, Kizza Besigye’s home in Kasangati.
Bahati is a political and investigative reporter, talk show producer at the Kamwokya based television as well as an entrepreneur.
She has been arrested by police manning Besigye’s home in Kasangati while waiting for FDC officials who had gone to consult with the opposition leader currently under house arrest.
FDC president, Mugisha Muntu, Reagan Okumu, Wafula Oguttu and Ingrid Turinawe, were trying to get Besigye’s signature before they can proceed with an electoral petition.
Before her arrest, Bahati had tweeted: “No journalist has been allowed 2 access @kizzabesigye1 by Police apart 4rm @AndrewMwenda. Who did u talk to so that they can allow me also?”
Her arrest comes a day after another NBS TV journalist, Elijah Turyagumanawe, was also arrested by the police outside Besigye’s home.
His cameraman Wasswa Hassan alongside other journalists; Dean Lubowa Saava and Kiwanuka Stephen, were also detained at Kasangati police station before being released later.
In Kampala, two journalists were also in detention for reporting a story in which yellow pigs were dropped outside state house Nakasero.
CCTV reporter Abubaker Muwonge and Red Pepper’s Otucu Francis were arrested and detained at Central Police Station in Kampala.
