Joseph Kigozi is leaving Kamwokya based NBS television, our gossip desk has learnt.
Better known as Joe, Kigozi has been NBS TV’s Chief Marketing Officer.
The source tells us Kigozi is crossing to a new television station, Buganda TV as the chief executive officer.
Kigozi has been the Chief Marketing Officer since June 2010.
He was in charge of brand and communication.
He has also been doubling as a Football Analyst at the same station since June 2001.
He was presenting the popular sports programme 4-4-2 along with Aldrine Nsubuga.
He has served the station for 14 years and 6 months.
Kigozi holds a Bachelor of Community Psychology, Communication and Media Studies [2001 – 2005] from Makerere University.
While the mushrooming NBS made news by getting senior staff from NTV Uganda, it has also started losing some to other stations.
Doreen Biira was the first to leave and join Kenya’s KTN.
In 2010, Uganda Communications Communication [UCC] told Buganda officials who were in the final stages of preparing to open a Buganda TV station to drop it.
UCC executive director, Godfrey Mutabaazi, cancelled the TV’s licence citing delays.
A year before, government had closed down Mengo owned CBS FM radio stations for fuelling violence during the Kabaka riots.
It is not clear whether the TV has been cleared to start operations.
