NBS shops Joyce Bagala for Amasengejje news

In an effort to provide better quality news, Nile Broadcasting Services [NBS TV] has ‘shopped’ Radio One Akaboozi journalist Joyce Bagala.

Bagala is the new news anchor for “Amasengejje” programmed for 7pm every evening.

Speaking to Radio Simba recently, Bagala says she aims to turn the Amasengejje news programme with new technology and zeal.

Her evening Luganda bulletin team includes; Ismael Ssembatya, Josephat Walugembe and Bushrah Namubiru.

Bagala, the newest face on NBS TV has been a vocal voice on radios over the years.

She also contested in Mityana for the district’s MP seat in 2016.

A radio broadcaster since 2005, Ms Bagala’s journalism career started with a brief stint at Beat FM.

She went on to work at Buddu Broadcasting Corporation from where she joined Sanyu FM as an English newscaster and parliamentary reporter.

In 2008, she joined Radio One FM 90. Months later, she became a prime time Luganda news reader at the station’s sister station, Akaboozi Kubbiri, as an anchor and editor.

Ms Bagala, a mother of two, describes herself as a journalist who loves politics. On what comes first, politics or journalism, she says she is a high-breed of both.

Apart from her blended love for journalism and politics, she is passionate about human rights, particularly those of women and children.

A continuing student of development studies at Makerere University, Bagala holds a diploma from UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

She is the current secretary general of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (Uganda Chapter).
