Nigerian artiste Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, is set to perform at StarTimes 6th anniversary celebrations scheduled for 3rd December 2016 in Kampala at Lugogo cricket oval.
The concert will be in conjunction with Face TV, their exclusive local music television channel property.
This was revealed at a press conference held at StarTimes head office in Kampala.
“Wizkid will be joined by a whole list of Ugandan popular artist as seen on star times channel, while giving back also to their new existing customers a one week free to airtime from 17th to 30th of October 2016 where there customers will be viewing their favorite StarTimes channel at no cost as they capitalize on local content marketing,” said Aldrine Nsubuga, the vice president marketing at StarTimes.
Startimes has injected 1.5 billion shillings to make sure this landmark celebration is a success and aimed at promoting local talent while focusing on the youth as an important part of their audience.
Nsubuga also encouraged the public to support the event saying “we want to urge the public to join StarTimes in celebrating our success and come party with our top local artist come December.
The highly anticipated event will this time round be hosted by Vampino an artist who is moving out of the music line to showcase his skills.
“Give it time, its Vampino not the musician but the host with a new style”.
Navio of the Navi corps is believed to be the man behind the logistical deal and linking up of the artist who is slated to be coming in the country for the second time.
According to Navio, a lot of preparations have taken off and confirmation to the event date is clear only waiting for the do day.
Navio sent apologies on behalf of Jose Chameleon as StarTimes brand ambassador who could not attend because he has lost his father-in-law but asked the people to pray for the family as they go through this trying time.
