National prayers organised for Cranes this weekend

Religious leaders in Uganda have responded in affirmative to FUFA’s request for National Prayer weekend dedicated to the Uganda ahead of the two crucial 2017 AFCON Qualifiers against Burkina Faso.

The latest development comes after the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) wrote to the various religious leaders seeking for divine intervention.

The prayer weekend request to the religious groups was Friday 18th -Sunday 20th March, 2016.

FUFA launched the ‘Mujje Tulumbe’ campaign geared towards rallying huge support from all Ugandans irrespective of religion, tribe, colour and wealth status, with Cranes set to play the West Africans on 26th and 29th March, 2016.

The Uganda Cranes and other players of the same religion will pray from areas designated to FUFA by the religious groups.

‘We are glad that our requests have been honoured. We are looking forward to making the National prayers a success. We encourage all Ugandans to pray for the National team-Uganda Cranes’ said Ahmed Hussein FUFA Spokesperson.

The Imaam at the National Mosque-Old Kampala Ali Juma Shiwuyo welcomed the idea.

‘It is important to put God ahead of everything. Even if the results turn out to be good or bad, you will look back to God for His decision’ said Imaam Shiwuyo.
