John Nasasira, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology has launched the President Yoweri Museveni sole candidature project in western Uganda.
The event took place over the weekend in Kazo county which he represents in Parliament (since 1989).
The launch was held at Buremba secondary school in Buremba sub county, Kazo County Kiruhura district.
It was part of the Nasasira cup gala, a tournament funded by the minister himself.
At the function, Nasasira launched the project seconding Museveni as the constituency’s sole candidate in the 2016 general elections.
The sole candidature was born at the NRM Parliamentary Caucus held at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.
It was spearheaded by the new minister of Youth and Children Affairs, Evelyn Anite.
At the Kazo launch, Nasasira gave western region musicians Museveni’s T-shirts and assured them that they would be part of this year’s NRM rallies.
NRM has already picked Radio and Weasel’s “Neera Neera” as a vote catchword replacing “Pakalast” and “You Want another Rap”.
The musicians will be singing Museveni’s achievements and seeking for his re-election, according to the arrangement.
One of the musicians, a one Gen Geeon has already composed a song for Nasasira titled “Nitukukunda Nasasira” hence demonstrating capability to sell the “old man’s” sole candidature across the region.
Other singers present were; Jackie Kazire, Gatoto Meva, Dj-western Omunene, Rukundo Fred, and others.
They welcomed and thanked Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s Leadership saying he restored peace in the country unlike the other regimes that spread horror and bloodshed.
Also present on the occasion was Rev Samuel Katungunda, the Chairman LC5 Kiruhura district, religious leaders and army officers.
Despite the suit by Amama Mbabazi’s man, Benjamin Alipanga, alleging that the President will be beyond the constitutional 75 age limit, Museveni is determined to stand again in 2016.
We are yet to get a confirmation from his former Prime Minister, Mbabazi, as to whether he will stand against his boss or not.
