The minister of Information and Communication Technology, John Nasasira, says he is not dead as social media reports are alleging.
“Good morning my people around the world. Am here in the UK and it’s now midnight,” a message on a Facebook page alleged to belong to the minister reads.
It adds: “I couldn’t sit down, hear or see people on social media spreading false rumours that am dead.”
The rumour started circulating last evening saying the minister had died in an Indian hospital.
It is in India that Nasasira sometime back got an accident breaking his hip bone.
The same accident would prevent him from contesting as MP for Kazo constituency in the 2016 elections.
According to his message, Nasasira is in London Kentucky city in the United States for medical attention.
“I want to take this time and say to all of you that am alive and that I will soon be fine,” he said.
“I pray to God that he gives them a hard life by time.”
He also used the opportunity to pay tribute to the late Internal Affairs minister, Gen Aronda Nyakairima.
“Failure is not the end of life and may the soul of our brother Aronda Nyakahirima rest in peace. We shall always miss him because he was a good man to the world…”
