Lands minister, Aidah Nantaba, has refused to apologise as demanded by the NRM electoral commission chairman, Tanga Odoi.
She further refused to report to the party National Vice Chairperson, Al Hajji Moses Kigongo, before 11am on Monday as demanded by the ruling party.
Nantaba dismissed allegations brought against her by Tanga saying she is involved in plots aimed at disrupting the party’s primaries.
She asked Tanga to go ahead and have her arrested if he can, as the NRM boss boasted this morning.
Speaking to NBS TV in Luzira, Tanga gave Nantaba four hours to report to the party officials and apologize for allegedly getting involved in election fraud or face arrest.
According to Tanga, Nantaba was involved in commandeering election ballot papers from the EC command centre in Luzira using a racket of fraudsters.
He said one suspect was arrested on Sunday night after he sneaked into the centre at Bishop Cyprian Kihangire Secondary School in Luzira with a box of ballot papers, which he said he had managed to steal from the officers dispatching election materials for transportation to different locations throughout the country.
The suspect is alleged to have confessed that he had been commissioned by the minister to steal ballot boxes.
He was detained at Kitintale police post from where he was transferred to Jinja Road police station.
Tanga later told New Vision that the suspect talked to the minister on phone put in loud speaker and they heard her still instructing the man on what to do with the aim of “sabotaging and portraying a negative image to the party electoral process yet she had already pulled out of the primaries”.
Tanga threatened to order police to arrest Nantaba if she didn’t not report to the party deputy chairman.
Nantaba refused to report; we are waiting for Tanga’s orders for her arrest.
