Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa has said that President Yoweri Museveni doesn’t need this country, but it’s this country that needs him.
Nankabirwa was speaking ahead of Museveni’s journey to Kyadondo NRM headquarters to pick nomination forms for the positions of party chairman and presidential flag bearer.
“It’s not Kaguta Museveni who needs the country but it’s the country that needs Museveni,” she stated, plainly speaking.
The tweet running on the party’s official twitter handle @NRMOnline was picked very first by tweeps, weighed and spat out.
Only a day back, Soroti Municipality MP, Mike Mukula, hailed Museveni as a strong leader whose relevance in Uganda’s politics still counts and cannot be swept away by any political tide.
Mukula was addressing the youth of NRM National Ideology Club at City Royal Hotel in Bugolobi, Nakawa Division in Kampala, as the chief guest.
“President Museveni has restored peace and stability in all parts of the country and put the economy on the right path,” Mukula is quoted by New Vision as saying.
Meanwhile, Lwemiyaga County legislator, Theodore Ssekikubo, aka the son of Museveni-who recently hailed him as the best leader is also at Kyadondo to “witness the candidate of my choice pick his nomination forms”.
Also present is Aidah Nantaba, State Minister for Lands.
This is what tweeps said to Nankabirwa in a space of minutes:
Leonard Lubwama: Am in this country but I don’t need him! Did she consider me? Just wondering.
Jason’s heir: But Ruth Nankabirwa with all due respect save such illiterate statements for your children…am disappointed.
Batte Baker Lule: Those useless women lack what to say. Let him go today and see who will miss him.
Geofrey Egesa: NRM goons at this time she is not thinking for herself
Kaijuka Edgar: I do not know how true that one is Ruth better give your opinion not for all Ugandans.
Denis L: Hehehehehehe the stupidest statement have heard in long time.
Nemaya Jamba: Ruth is entitled to her opinion. The fact is, the country is a prisoner of Museveni.
Nuwagaba Benard: We don’t need him…why does he steal votes to remain in power?

Feb 18, 2005, New Vision published a story saying she had failed exams at Makerere University.
The report said she had turned her red top bodyguards into her personal ‘slaves’ “degrading them into carrying her handbag, purse and buveera”.
“That aside, when she turns up at campus for her exams, a security ring is thrown round the classroom she is in. Nankabirwa has not been doing any revision for she failed her methodology quantitative and qualitative paper.”
