Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze has Friday travelled to South Africa to get more treatment.
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago on Monday visited Nambooze and announced that she would be travelling to South Africa this week for better management of her health.
Nambooze was hospitalised at Mukono Church of Uganda hospital for 10 days since the night of June 11 after she developed sudden abdominal pains and convulsions following a drink-up with a brother and friends in Seeta, Mukono.
According to her medical documents, the MP has ulcerated intestines and an acidic substance in the stomach triggered by a reaction to many chemical substances.
The doctors advised her to get more specialized treatment in South Africa.
Today, Nambooze together with her husband Henry Bakireke left the country aboard South African Airways.
She will take more scans and x-ray tests to ascertain the actual cause of her illness.
In 2009, Nambooze was taken to South Africa as a patient for detoxification; doctors at Flora hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa had discovered that the intestinal complications she suffered were a result of food poisoning.
