A supporter of Mukono municipality MP, Betty Nambooze, was shot last evening during a scuffle with security in the town.
The incident happened along Kayunga road in Mukono town as Nambooze made final touches in her campaigns ahead of Thursday elections.
Apparently, Nambooze’s supporters turned rowdy and blocked the road at the same time President Yoweri Museveni’s convoy was entering the town.
Museveni was coming from Mukono north and rushing back to Kampala.
Mukono police OC station, George Ndikuzimana, led his boys to clear the road for the president only to meet resistance.
As security tried to contain the crowd, one person was shot in the leg.
Speaking earlier at her rally in Mukono Taxi Park, Nambooze warned police against engaging in partisan politics and harassing the opposition.
She also alleged that crime preventers had already been deployed to tamper with the votes ahead of tomorrow’s election.
