Nakaseke MP candidate goes missing



Police in Nakaseke district is investigating the disappearance of Forum for Democratic Change party flag bearer and MP aspirant, Ivan Masembe.

Masembe who was nominated to contest for Nakaseke North MP seat went missing on Thursday December 3, 2015.

Masembe is a resident of Central Zone in Kiwoko Town Council.

Savannah Region Police Spokesperson, Lameck Kigozi, said Masembe went missing after meeting his supporters upon nomination.

Kigozi said the candidate’s phone was found in his car.

Police arrested Issa Kasozi, the aspirant’s driver to help with investigations.

Absolom Bwanika Baale, the FDC party chairperson Luweero District, told Daily Monitor, Masembe held a procession through Kiwoko Town among other areas after nomination last Thursday, but reportedly went missing at about 7pm the same day when his driver could not trace him.

According to the paper, in 2010, Moses Kabarema, a candidate who had been nominated to contest for Nakaseke North MP seat on FDC ticket, had his two vehicles torched by a mob at Ngoma Town Council.
