Ronald Ndawula has won the Luweero NRM district chairperson seat in what is seen as a blow to the LC 5 chairman and outgoing district party chairperson, Abdul Nadduli.
Ronald Ndawula defeated Ali Ndawula Ssekyanzi, the former Bamunanika County MP who was backed by Nadduli.
The Luweero district NRM registrar David Kamugisha declared Ronald Ndawula winner for the seat after he garnered 314 votes against Ssekyanzi’s 78 votes, and Carol Nalubega’s 14 votes.
Area leaders say this is a vote of no confidence on Nadduli.
Some area leaders say the loss is a sign that Nadduli is losing control of the district.
Recently, Nadduli came on the list of NRM aspirants who had submitted fake papers.
He threatened to drag his doubters to court saying if he doesn’t sue [these people] they won’t understand.
Nadduli had his re-election bid blocked in 2006 after the Electoral Commission found his academic papers wanting.
In 2011, Nadduli bounced back and won the seat after he was cleared by the High court.
Ronald Ndawula, Nadduli’s perennial arch-rival, had petitioned court then to block Nadduli.
With fake papers scandal raging and Ndawula winning a top seat in the district, Nadduli could be headed for unceremonious times.
