Salaam Musumba, the former candidate Kamuli Municipality MP has spoken out on her recent victory against the ruling party NRM’s Hajati Rehema Watongola as MP of the newly created Kamuli Municipality.
Watongola presented a Uganda Certificate of Education from Town Hall in Jinja, diploma and degree certificates in Public Administration and Management from the university, which the court found to be lacking.
The FDC vice president for eastern Uganda says it is a public secret that Rehema Watongola (NRM) has no academic papers.
“She almost got away with it,” Musumba said while appearing on NBS TV this morning.
“Many Basoga don’t want to stand up for the truth. To let things pass is to set a bad precedent for the country.”
Musumba said there was nothing to celebrate. “Not yet. We have bigger monsters to fight: impunity and dysfunctionality of the system.”
She said National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) has disappointed the country.
“NCHE is headed by professors but what has become of professors? They are accomplices to the fraud. Pathetic. We have put our trust in wrong titles who have failed themselves and the country.”
She said that “thing called Busoga University is a disaster. Totally bogus”.
She said when court summoned them to come, they declined.
All documents that were referred to were from Busoga University but they refused to send a representative to court.
“Rehemah Watongola had a 9-month course certificate from Busoga University. At the time she took it, NCHE was yet to approve it.”
She said in Kamuli, most people wearing NRM t-shirts are criminals who don’t even understand the party’s ideologies.
