President Yoweri Museveni today joined catholic believers in a mass at Mount Zion Prayer Centre Bukalango in Wakiso District
At Mount Zion Prayer centre in Bukalango, the congregation congratulated him upon his 71st birthday.
The prayers were led by the Director of the Centre Monsignor Expedito Magembe.
The President was born on September 15, 1944.
“I thank all of you for sparing time to worship God,” he told believers.
“I am happy to note that the evangelists have caused the youth to love God. It is good for the young people to fear and respect God,” he added.
According to the presidential press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, the president afterwards left for the Sudanese Capital Khartoum for a two day official visit during which he will hold bilateral talks with President Omar Al-Bashir.
The two leaders are expected to hold joint ministerial meetings before and a dinner banquet that will be hosted by President Bashir in honour of President Museveni this evening.
According to a tentative programme, the two leaders will sign two agreements to promote higher education and Youth programmes between the two countries after which a joint communiqué will be read followed by a news conference.
President Museveni is also expected to visit a hospital and a university in Khartoum tomorrow and later give a lecture at Friendship Hall titled “Democratic developments in the African continent”.
Museveni has arrived in Khartoum and was received by President Omar Al-Bashir.
Museveni held talks with his host Al Bashir at the Presidential lounge Khartoum.
