President Museveni has toured Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrines.
He promised more government funding towards the continued development of both the Catholic and Anglican Martyrs Shrines in order to promote religious tourism, develop religious infrastructure and strengthen the faith of Christians.
The President joined hundreds of pilgrims who are currently trekking to the Uganda Martyrs Shrines Namugongo.
At the Catholic shrine he was received by Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga and the Rector Fr. Vincent Lubega who later led him into prayer with the rest of Christians.
He later toured the newly developed Holy Site.
At the Anglican Shrine, President Yoweri Museveni was received by Archbishop (Rtd) Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo.
Museveni was flanked by The Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and Minister for Minister for Works and Transport John Byabagambi.
