President Edgar Chagwa Lungu of Zambia has called on Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to draw on his experience in solving regional conflicts and help maintain support for the peace process in South Sudan.
“You have the skill and experience in peace making. You should not give up on supporting the peace process in South Sudan. We need to draw on your experience from solving regional conflicts to help support the peace process in South Sudan,” President Lungu said.
President Lungu, who was accompanied by his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Harry Kalaba, paid a courtesy call on President Yoweri Museveni at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing China.
The two leaders also attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Lungu said the members of the International Conference on the Great Lakes’ Region (ICGLR) are interested in seeing that peace returns and is maintained in the region.
President Yoweri Museveni congratulated his counterpart on winning the recent elections in Zambia.
He said he was committed to efforts to ensure that peace is maintained in the region including in South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burundi, etc.
