Kyadondo East MP elect Apollo Kantinti has accused the ruling party NRM of rearranging legislators’ interests from national, constituency and then party order.
“NRM MPs put party interests ahead of national and constituency interests,” Kantinti said, pointing out that arm twisting MPs to vote for deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah will have effects.
He urged voters with MPs that are putting party interests ahead of national interests should demand for accountability.
“Following what happened last Thursday, the question should be, who is NRM? Party or individual?” Kantinti wondered while appearing on NBS TV Wednesday.
“NRM claims it uses its own money but where is the accountability? Can they prove that’s NRM money?”
On the pending Cabinet list, Kantinti said while the country deserves a lean Cabinet that delivers, “we are most likely going to have the same faces”.
He predicted that President Museveni will try and absorb his people, including those who lost, into the Cabinet.
“It might even be bigger. Creation of ministerial dockets beyond the 21 slots is aimed at appeasing and extending President Museveni’s patronage.”
Kantinti said FDC is still asking for an independent audit of the 2016 elections.
