Museveni: This British nonsense of Jews…I’d fight them

Museveni receiving Netanyahu at Entebbe

President Yoweri Museveni has warned that if the British in “their nonsensical actions” brought Jews to Uganda, he would now be fighting them.

“If the Jews had settled in Uganda we would be fighting them,” said Museveni during the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Israel raid on Entebbe airport.

“Thank God they [Jews] were clever and went to their legitimate home,” Museveni told Israel Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Museveni who insisted Jews have no historical claims in Uganda, praised  Jewish leaders for wisely avoiding “the British nonsense”.

Waving his hand in a warning manner and facing at British envoys in the tent, Museveni said sometimes they [British] do so many nonsensical actions.

“Jewish leaders wisely avoided the British nonsense of bringing you to Uganda because you have no historical claim here,” Museveni further told Netanyahu.

He said the Romans upset the equilibrium by dispersing the Jews.

“They should know that you are not Christians. I commend the Israelis for refusing the British proposal to relocate them to Uganda. They have no historical claim here,” the president later reiterated in a media statement.

Reminding Israelis and Palestinians that they are the same, Museveni said Uganda was guided by the Bible and doesn’t tolerate bigotry.

“We cannot accept the bigotry that either of you do not belong,” he said, reiterating the Uganda Scheme of the early 20th century, when the British colonial secretary at the time, Joseph Chamberlain, agreed in principle to settling Jews in Uganda.

Museveni attributed the plan not to Chamberlin, however, but to Lord Balfour, who issued the Balfour Declaration.

Referring to the Uganda plan, and what he said was Balfour’s role in it, he said, “How could you be foreign minister when you are so ignorant.”
