Museveni summons UPDF High Command

President Yoweri Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the Uganda Armed Forces has held a meeting with the UPDF High Command at State House Entebbe.

The meeting, according to presidential press secretary Lindah Nabusayi, focused on National and Regional Security.

This follows a series of conflicts in Rwenzori region that involved the armed forces.

State House describes UPDF as a “disciplined and patriotic army has managed to create an island of peace in a region of conflict”.

The national forces are credited for defeating Alice Lakwena and Joseph ‪‎Kony led Lord’s Resistance Army (‪‎LRA) making Uganda one of the most peaceful countries in the world. All eligible ‪Ugandans are encouraged to join the army, especially professionals.”

In the Global Firepower [GFP Power Index] of 2016, UPDF was ranked the 16th greatest African military and 92nd of 126 greatest world militaries.

“We have reason to celebrate,” commented the UPDF Chief Political Commissar Col. Felix Kulayigye.
