Museveni summons committee on natural resources as Pastor Kakande snubs parliament

Ugandan president has summoned parliament committee on natural resources following their shocking findings of serious encroachment of lake Victoria and illegal sand mining in Lwera in Kalungu district.

According to the committee, their findings in what is happening in Lwera may have depressed president Museveni.

Meanwhile, Pastor Samuel Kakande of Synagogue Church of All Nations in Mulago on Friday snubbed parliament summons.

Prophet Kakande as he’s known among his followers had been summoned by the committee to explain how his company, Aqua World had started mining sand yet it had only acquired license from National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) for fish farming in Lwera.

According to the committee, Aqua World Uganda Limited, a company owned by Pastor Kakande acquired a licence from NEMA to carry out fish farming in a space of 45 cares in Lwera.

However, Aqua world started mining sand and exporting it outside contrary to the NEMA’s licence.
The committee, which last month made on-site visits to Lwera, Kalungu district to investigate reports of mass sand mining, established that, Aqua World has been illegally mining sand.

This comes just weeks after ‘the man of God’ as his followers prefer calling him was named in an illegal guns scandal.

His deputy, Pastor Johnson Muwanguzi was arrested after he was reportedly found in possession of illegal firearms.

Upon interrogation, Muwanguzi said the two firearms belonged to Pastor Kakande.

According to police, Kakande denied knowledge of the firearms although they were recovered in his church.
