Museveni says govt will pay to return the body of Dhaira from Iceland

President Museveni has said that the Ugandan government will meet the expenses of returning the body of the late Cranes goal keeper, Dhaira (#RipDhaira).

This comes on the recent news that our beloved Cranes goal keeper passed away in a hospital in Iceland from Stomach cancer.  He was only 28yrs old.

Dhaira played for Icelandic Premier League side IBV Vestmannaeyjar and was diagnosed with cancer late 2015.

Dhaira made his debut for the national team in 2009 and helped the Cranes win the regional Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup in 2012 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

He was a goalkeeper for Uganda Premier League side URA FC.

Dhaira’s health deteriorated in January 2016 and he was hospitalised in Kampala at Nsambya Hospital before returning to Iceland where he was receiving further treatment.

Dhaira first showed his talent in Jinja at Walukuba.

Many soccer lovers in Uganda and Europe are in mourning.

Cancer strikes any age at any time and even in the best medical systems, sometimes we loves friends and family.

May his soul rest in peace and may the inspiration he gave many Ugandans and young children around live forever.
