Museveni promotes 496 police chiefs

President Kaguta Museveni has promoted 496 Uganda police officers to various ranks.

According to a statement by the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura, Museveni promoted officers to various ranks ranging from Assistant Superintendent of Police [ASP] to Assistant Inspector General of Police [AIGP].

The president also promoted 245 officers from the junior ranks of Inspectorate and Assistant Inspector of Police to the senior ranks of Assistant Superintendent of Police [ASP].

Five officers were promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police [AIGP].

19 were promoted to Senior Commissioner of Police [SCP].

13 officers were promoted to Commissioner of Police [CP].

30 were promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police [ACP].

52 have been promoted to Senior Superintendent of Police [SSP].

132 have been elevated to Superintendent of Police [SP] while 245 were promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police [asp] bringing the total to 496 officers.

Kayihura said the promotions will enhance the programme of professionalization and modernisation of the Ugandan police force as well as building effective leadership and management of the force.
