Museveni passes out fresh 2,940 soldiers

Ugandan President and Commander In Chief Gen. Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday passed out 2,941 UPDF recruits.

The function held at Kaweweta grounds in Nakaseke was witnessed by parents and relatives of the recruits.

Shortly before their passing out, the recruits exhibited combined army tactics acquired during their training.

In his speech, Gen. Museveni like the Commander of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Katumba Wamala urged the recruits to have discipline, loyalty and patriotism.

Museveni in his usual rhetoric has always attributed the fall of some past governments to the indiscipline of the army.

In his speech, Lt. Col. Geoffrey Walimbwa, Commandant of Recruits School Kaweweta cautioned the recruits to respect everyone including the civilians they are supposed to protect.
