President Museveni on Tuesday performed a ground-breaking ceremony for construction of China-Uganda Agricultural Industrial Park in Butuntumula, Luwero district.
The project investment is estimated at Shs550bn.
The park is located in Ndibulungi village, Butuntumula sub county in Katikamu North Constituency, Luweero district.
The project once complete will help farmers increase their agricultural incomes through accessing improved seeds and advanced technology.
The project’s annual output will be 600,000 tons of agro products. It is expected to create 25,000 jobs and train 25,000 families.
Industrial parks are important in transforming the Ugandan economy because they promote production and earnings of farmers.
“I thank the Chinese government for supporting and investing in Uganda,” Museveni said at the ceremony.
He said government will add more money in industrial parks, we have an industrial park at Namanve and Nakasongola and we are also going to build one in Kaweweta.
