Presidential Press Secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, says President Yoweri Museveni will meet South Sudan rebel chief, Riek Machar, in Masindi district this evening.
Machar’s spokesman, James Gatdet Dak, lastnight confirmed to us that the rebel leader was headed to Kampala to meet with the president.
Lindah told Insider Monday afternoon that Museveni would meet Machar at State Lodge in Masindi town western Uganda.
“That is where the president is having his campaigns. So, the two leaders will meet there [Masindi],” Lindah said on phone.
Lindah said she was not aware of the subject of discussion, adding that the meeting would be a closed door one.
According to Gatdet, Machar was supposed to leave the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa last night and land at Entebbe today.
Lindah could not confirm whether Machar is already on Ugandan soil.
Machar also the First Vice President of South Sudan will only travel to Juba to assume his position after President Salva Kiir has scrapped the 28 states.
He accuses Kiir of absconding on some of the terms agreed upon towards the formation of the transitional government in the warring state.
This week, his officials met at Pagak headquarters and deliberated on the matter, coming up with resolutions which they will present to Juba.
According to Lindah, after the meeting, Machar and Museveni will make a statement detailing the subject of their conversation.
