President Yoweri Museveni has held a meeting with a delegation of Indian entrepreneurs who are already involved in various development projects in Uganda to brief him on the progress of the projects that they are undertaking so far.
Led by the Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, Dr. Ramesh Chandra, the entrepreneurs who called on the President at State House, Nakasero, reported that the projects that they are involved in include Karuma hydro-power dam construction, Isimba power dam, among others, adding that they are looking forward to the construction of a state of art hospital at Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, Nakawa Division.
The President welcomed their efforts in the development of Uganda adding that India has been in the forefront in supporting Uganda during the struggle against colonialism.
On behalf of the delegation, the Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, Dr. Ramesh Chandra congratulated President Museveni on his victory in the February 2016 Presidential elections.
He also commended the NRM Government for the hospitality extended to the citizens of India who are in the country involved in the development of numerous areas of the Ugandan economy.
Dr. Chiraag Kotecha of the Midland Group of Companies reported that the construction of Kabira country Hospital in Bukoto, will be specialized in maternal and orthopaedics surgery for children who are born with holes in their hearts.
He noted that once the facility has been completed, those children will be treated in Uganda to minimise costs instead of flying them to India for that specialized medical care as the case is currently.
