President Yoweri Museveni has met with the King of the Rwenzururu, Charles Wesley Mumbere.
The meeting, according to presidential press secretary Lindah Nabusayi was held at Mweya Safari Lodge in Kasese district on Monday.
King Mumbere was accompanied by his mother Christine Mukirania and the Abanyarwenzururu.
Museveni is in Rwenzori region in a bid to restore peace and stability.
He also met the Obudingiya Bwa Bamba cultural leaders Rtd Lt Col Martin Kamya.
The region has been engrossed in conflicts which have seen people in Kasese and Bundibugyo killed in separate attacks.
Kasese leaders on Sunday met Museveni and denounced those pushing for the formation of Yiira republic, which the president had earlier dismissed.
The president also ordered UPDF to deploy heavily in the region to prevent further tribal clashes.
