President Yoweri Museveni is expected in Fort Portal today, Monday to try and reconcile Tooro King Oyo Kabamba Iguru and his rival, Prince David Kijanangoma.
Museveni has been one of Tooro Kingdom’s ‘Bajwara Kondo’ (the highest honor in kingdom) since the demise of Olimi Kaboyo, father Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
In that capacity and as of Head State, he will try to bring the rival royals together for the common good of the Kingdom.
Andrew Irumba, one of Kijanangoma’s trusted cadres says the President’s emissaries are already in Fort Portal to organize his arrival and subsequent meetings with the feuding royals.
He says Museveni will first meet Kijanangoma’s team of 20 ruling clan members and thereafter meet Oyo’s camp which must also be Babiito ruling clan and must not exceed 20.
The president will thereafter meet the ‘Isaazi Lya Tooro’ (Elders’ council) before giving his final directives on the way forward.
The meeting with Kijanangoma is expected to take place in the afternoon at state lodge Boma Fort Portal.
Final preparations are already in high gear at Rwengoma palace, the home of the Prince who is bent on overthrowing Oyo.
He accuses the King of selling kingdom properties with his mother Best Kemigisa, choosing to stay in Kampala neglecting his kingdom contrary to Tooro constitution and evicting subjects from their land.
These are the same issues the President is expected to address.
