President Yoweri Museveni is currently in Kisoro district where he will preside over International Labour Day celebrations.
The President has already inspected the guard of honour as celebrations get underway.
Also present are ministers; Aronda Nyakairima, Mary Karoro Okurut and the new Chief Justice, Bart Katureebe.
According to Hon. Kamanda Bataringaya, the Minister of State for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, the International Labour Day is celebrated every May 1, to recognise the dignity of labour and the important contribution that it makes towards the social, economic and political development of the country.
This year the Labour Day Celebrations are ongoing at St. Paul secondary school, Mutolere, in Kisoro District under the theme ‘Accelerating Social Economic Transformation through promotion of the Decent Work Agenda, Social Justice and Equity’.
The theme seeks to significantly improve specific socio-economic development indicators pertinent to transformation.
