The body of Supreme Mufti Zubair Kayongo been brought home.
The casket carrying his remains arrived at Entebbe Airport at around 9am on Friday aboard Kenya airways.
Among those present to receive his remains were; Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago and Shifra Lukwago, Butambala County MP Muwanga Kivumbi, Kawempe North MP Latiff Sebagala, and MP Semujju Nganda, among others.
His body is being taken to his home in Kiteezi along Gayaza road in Wakiso district for his family members to have a final look at him.
He will then be taken to Kibuli mosque for prayers.
He will thereafter be taken to Buswabulongo Quran School in Lwamatta, in Kiboga district for burial later in the day.
The deputy Presidential Press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, has confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni is headed to Kibuli to attend the prayers.
“Kaguta Museveni is due at Kibuli Mosque to Commiserate with Muslim community over death of Supreme Mufti Kayongo,” Lindah announced.
Sheikh Kayongo, died on Thursday at Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
He is said to had succumbed to kidney failure.
