President Yoweri Museveni attended Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Gen. Kahinda Otafiire’s thanksgiving at Kashenshero SS in Mitooma yesterday.
Addressing the congregation, Museveni said he met Gen. Otafiire in 1974 during the anti-Amin struggle.
“All this time, I have known him to be on the right path of the Movement, working for its success.”
Museveni said even when Otafiire was not re-elected to Parliament in the last election, he retained him in cabinet because of his unequalled track record as a cadre and his contribution to the revolutionary struggle.
“Otafiire could have made mistakes that led to his rejection by voters but I couldn’t leave him out of cabinet and forget his historical contribution to the Movement and Uganda.”
Museveni said it is not right to forget elders’ contribution and sacrifices, otherwise people may find it useless to sacrifice for their country even when it needs such sacrifices.
Otafiire, in turn, gave Museveni a shield and spear to enable him continue leading the country.
