President Yoweri Museveni has contributed Shs.30 million shillings to the fundraising project for a new modern school building at Wampewo Day and Primary School in Nangabo Sub-County, Wakiso district.
He pledged to the school administration that he will send Shs.20 million later.
The President was speaking at the Schools occasion of marking 100 years since its inception.
The school that was founded by the Church of Uganda is run under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme and has over 1200 pupils.
It was established on April 16th 1916.
During the celebrations, the President also opened the schools new computer laboratory, inspected some of the classrooms and planted a memorial tree in remembrance of the institutions one century in existence.
In his comments, President Museveni noted old buildings and the need for staff houses for teachers as well as need for provision of running water. He promised help in extending tap water to the school.
It is the will of the NRM government to not only expand schools but also to improve on the quality of education, he said.
He commended the school administration for running the institution on an upright basis to ensure good quality citizens in Uganda.
He also congratulated them upon their 100 years of successfully educating Ugandans.
