President Museveni has given the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, a Toyota Land Cruiser as a gift to mark the monarch’s 60th birthday.
The Black Land Cruiser V8 was presented to the King by the president by Vice President, Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi, at the Kingdom Headquarters in Bulange Mengo where celebrations are still ongoing.
The brand new Land Cruiser VX V8 car costs over $80, 000 or over Shs 240m before tax and freight charges from Japan.
Ssekandi also handed the King an “enveloped” gift as an accompaniment to the car.
Last week, KCCA gave as gift to the King, a sculptural monument constructed in form of engalabi (royal drums) along the Kabaka Anjagala road which stretch from Bulange, Mengo to Lubiri, the official Kabaka palace.
The monument was funded by KCCA ED, Jennifer Musisi, Hamis Kiggundu of Ham Plaza, Umar Sekamatte of USAFI market (who just sold his USAFI market to KCCA at Sh34.4bn), Andrew Kasirye, Gordon Wavamunno of Spear group of companies, Fred Mukasa Mbidde, the Attorney General of Kabuswaga and EA Member of Parliament, among others.
At the event, the Kabaka was handed his grand birthday gift the Masengere building.
Buganda Prime Minister, Peter Mayiga, says the building cost Shs 5bn.
Present at the function is the King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kamba Iguru IV, and representatives from other kingdoms.
